Why I bought this set

Once I started collecting Lego, I had to have this in my collection – I had to obtain the pride set, showing love and acceptance. It is the first set dedicated to the LGBTQIA+ community in the company’s history.

Other than the connotations, I adore the vibrant pieces, and the monochrome figures live up to the set’s name: awesome.

Set contents

Everyone is Awesome comes in 18+ premium packaging with the set image front and center. The top of the box has the eleven minifigures doing a conga line. The 40-page instruction manual will guide you through the straightforward build. Although the pieces come in several bags, they are all mixed into one building stage.

Minifigures

All eleven minifigures in this set are unique – each with a different hairstyle.
As they are monochrome, there is no printing on these minifigures, which helped keep costs down, allowing for this set to have such a reasonable price tag; typically, a minifigure adds $4-5 to the set’s retail price.

The simplicity of these minifigures is striking and compliments the clean look of the set. As expected, there is no deviation in hue from one part of the minifigure to the next, i.e., the head and torso match perfectly.

Usually, I would take pictures of the minifigures to show the details; however, that seems redundant for these. Instead, I’ve provided the official image, which captures the figures nicely.

Set highlights

The existence of this set is a significant highlight in and of itself. I appreciate Lego’s desire to demonstrate diversity and inclusivity – most predominantly shown in the Friends theme.

While Everyone is Awesome is simplistic, it is well-designed. Including all 11 colors showcases each identity. Further, I have seen many alternative builds of this set, organizing the colors in different orders or swapping out the monochrome figures for the spaceman figures. Such individualism is what this build is all about.

Set revisions?

I like the clean and straightforward nature of the design; however, one tweak could add more to the set.

As the hairpiece is the only differentiating factor for the minifigures, it would have been nice to throw in a few alternative pieces, as they did with the Table Football. That way, you could get one of the minifigures to represent a person or add a bit of individualism to the build.

Ratings

Build: 5/5
The build is about as classic as construction gets – with most of the set stacking bricks and tiling off all the studs.

After the first layer, the manual became redundant as it was apparent how to complete the build. I found this freeing. Due to the repetitive pieces and the 11 colors, it was easy to find the subsequent required part.

I enjoyed the speed and simplicity of the construction and not having to deal with stickers, technic parts, or anything small and fiddly!

Display: 5/5
Everyone is Awesome is attractive from all angles – a rarity for many smaller Lego sets. It might be a rectangle, but the brick height above the minifigures provides enough distance to appreciate the colorful bricks.

The staggering of the minifigures to make the same color profile from each side (matching the colors of the progress pride flag) is an outstanding attribute. Even from the rear, the colors of the flag are instantly recognizable.

There are no exposed studs in this set, creating a polished appearance. Using curved slopes at the top provides a further finishing touch that adds quality to the final product.

Price: 5/5
The set comes in at the 10 cents per piece benchmark, instantly making the set seem like a decent value. Considering that it includes eleven minifigures (even if they are monochrome), you cannot argue with the price point for this Lego-exclusive set.

The elements included in the set are excellent inventory pieces, so it also represents a superb part pack for most city builders.

Final thoughts

I adore this set. It looks incredible and will be the perfect display piece. It is robust, so there are no issues moving the set around.

Since this launched in 2021, it would be nice if Lego released another pride set. There are many avenues for designers to take the theme, and I’d like to see what the designers develop next.

Happy Pride Month, Everyone!

We did a video of the build. I must admit it looks pretty dated for what we’re doing these days. One of our earliest brickfilms.

That was amazing. I loved it! Wish I could do something like this. I’ve just started doing time-lapses of my builds but pales in comparison. The dancing minifigures were fantastic and my favorite part!

You totally can do it! We use DaVinci Resolve, which is a free download, and not so complicated once you get into it. After that, it’s a lot of little tricks to make your life easier. We did a popular tutorial if you’re interested:
