Target announced a 20% off sale on various Lego sets in March. I checked out the deals and started adding things to my cart that I wanted, intending to whittle down my choices at the end to achieve a comfortable dollar amount. All the sets I was interested in came from the City theme, with my eyes glowing at seeing road plates included in the sale. After adding all the Lego I wanted to my cart, I was delighted with the total and knew I had picked up some great sets. So, what did I get? Let’s look at each set in turn.
All listed prices are the sale prices I snagged these sets for, not the MSRP.
Road plates #60304, 112 pieces, $15.99:
Any city builder will confirm that getting a deal on road plates is a win. I’ve been looking for some for a while, but they are rarely discounted. Target limited the number of these sets to three per person, so that’s how many I bought. That will make six MILS’ plates worth, giving me a decent-sized road (I only have two so far). That’s just as well, as I bought a few vehicles in this haul too.
Besides the road plates, these sets have some fantastic parts, including trees, lamposts, and road signs. All the pieces will be integrated into the city so nothing will go to waste.

Bear Stunt Bike #60356, 10 pieces, $6.39:
The smallest set of my haul was this adorable tiny one. I 100% got this for the minifigure rather than the bike, though the stunt bikes are a lot of fun to play with. The bear is super cute, with distinct facial markings.
As I snagged the bathtub stunt bike last year, I need to make some fun areas for adventures in my city. While I don’t plan a fully-fledged stunt area, a skatepark might be possible.

Recycling Truck #60386, 261 pieces, $23.99:
When this set launched in January, I knew I would purchase it for my city. I am drawn to its necessity in modern life, the design, and the green movement it represents. I am also attracted to the two municipal worker minifigures – I don’t have anything like them until now. I wonder why the set comes with the third minifigure and the cat, but they are fun additions that will find a good home in my city. As for the truck itself, I love the features of tilting the chassis to empty the contents and the capability of lifting the recycling bins. I’m inspired to make a recycling plant now!

Ice-Cream Truck #60253, 200 pieces, $15.99:
I’ve wanted this set for a while, as it will fit perfectly in a residential or beachfront area. Eventually, I will have both of these regions in my Lego world. While I love so many things about the design, my favorite feature is the ice cream come decoration on the top. Despite being stickers, the menus and truck detailing details are fantastic additions that make the vehicle distinctive. The minifigures are fun, and I always appreciate sets that have an animal too!

Electric Sports Car #60383, 95 pieces, $7.99:
I recently purchased the electric scooters pack (read my review) for my city, so it only makes sense that I would have an electric car roaming around too! I adore the design of this little car with its sleek teal blue stripe. It looks like the black and yellow design on the front might be printed pieces, which will make the final product look even better. The charging station micro build has a fantastic design. Finally, the minifigure is very much into their electric auto life – as their outfit matches the car.

Vet Van Rescue #60382, 58 pieces, $7.99:
I knew, undoubtedly, I’d be picking up this set when the January 2023 City wave was announced. The primary reason is the dark grey cat with a grey tufty area on its chest. This cat looks a lot like one of mine (except they are black), so naturally, I had to own it. More than that, though, the animal hospital detailing on the van and the minifigure outfits will be essential to create a wonderful happy, healthy animal world. The dog, bowl, and bone are amazingly cute too. I’m giddy thinking about making a vet office in my city.

Penguin Slushy Van #60384, 194 pieces, $15.99:
The 2023 food truck is the slushie van, a perfect companion to the ice cream truck. The look of the slushie decoration on the top is outstanding and will look remarkable in my city. Once again, the Lego designers have done a superb job of taking a basic truck shape and making it distinctive. The smooth black hood to give the front of the truck a penguin expression is a nice departure from the standard flat design of so many trucks. The penguin-suit minifigure is a highlight – I adore the headpiece. The sticker elements in the set make it vibrant and different too.

Mobile Police Dog Training #60369, 197 pieces, $23.99:
This set is packed with features and parts that make it a must-buy for me. I was waiting for a sale, and there was no hesitation in adding it to my cart. The highlight of the set is the police minifigure with cactus arms. This inclusion caused some controversy when released – as training dogs to attack seemed too violent for some Lego fans. Personally, I have no issue with this element of realism – I love the figure. The fabulous accessories – bones, bowls, poop, brush, harness, and flashlight – will add a lot of playability and functionality to the set. The primary vehicle is different from other police vehicles I have, so I am not discouraged about repetitiveness. The dog circuit mini-builds are utterly precious and practical too. I’m going to have so much fun playing with this scene. The puppy is overwhelming me with adorability too.

Final thoughts
So, that was my discounted City set haul from Target. I’m excited to have all these builds in my city. Each will bring character and life. I am waiting on a PAB order to MILS the road plates, and then I will build all the vehicles to fill them.
What do you think of my purchases? Do you have any of these sets yourselves? What are your favorites? Comment below to let me know. 🙂
